Syracuse, NY, February 8, 2011 - Polaris Library Systems, a leading provider of library automation
technology, announced today that Bergen County Cooperative Library System (BCCLS) in New Jersey has selected the Polaris Integrated Library System (ILS). BCCLS includes 75 public libraries in New Jersey's Bergen, Essex, Hudson, and Passaic counties. The Polaris ILS will replace the library's SirsiDynix Symphony system. "There were certain criteria that were particularly important to us in selecting an Integrated Library System," said BCCLS director Robert White. "First, we wanted to operate in a Unicode environment. Second, we wanted a system that would allow a significant amount of customization by our own staff. Third, we wanted to partner with a company whose commitment and performance in terms of customer service we could depend on for many years to come." The Bergen County Cooperative Library System spans four counties across New Jersey. There are currently 75 members, including all 62 public libraries in Bergen County, eight in Essex County, four in Hudson County, and one in Passaic County. This will be a two-phase implementation, with the schools migrating first and then public libraries following by December 2012. "The Bergen County Cooperative Library System works extremely hard to provide support to public libraries across many communities," said Polaris President & CEO Bill Schickling. "We are looking forward to being a part of that mission and are thrilled to have BCCLS as a member of the Polaris community." ### About Bergen County Cooperative Library System The Bergen County Cooperative Library System was formed in 1979 to foster resource sharing among Bergen County public libraries. The cornerstone activity has been, and remains, reciprocal borrowing, where a patron's hometown library card is honored at all participating libraries.
