"It's great to be able to customize the Polaris checkout screen with patron data elements of our choice. It maximizes the efficiency of the checkout process. And with 15 agencies circulating over 7.1 million items per year, it matters."

- Eva Calcagno, Manager, Washington County Cooperative Library Services, Oregon

Ouachita Parish Public Library Selects Polaris ILS

Syracuse, NY, February 26, 2008- Polaris Library Systems, a leading provider of library automation technology, announced today that Ouachita Parish Public Library, Louisiana has selected the Polaris Integrated Library System (ILS) for the Library and 6 branch locations. The Polaris ILS will replace the Library's SirsiDynix Horizon system.

"Our primary focus was finding an ILS partner who delivers on what they promise. After interviewing a lot of Polaris libraries and a rigorous technology review process, we are confident that Polaris will do just that," said Eileen Kontrovitz, Head of Automation for the Library.

Kontrovitz also noted that open access to the database was an extremely important factor in their selection criteria. The Polaris ILS will interface with a full range of third-party solutions and services, including the Library's ArchivalWare, iTiva telephone system, AquaBrowser and many others as well as Polaris proprietary products including SimplyReports and Polaris Inventory Manager.

"Ouachita Parish Public Library is known for being extremely progressive with respect to library automation technology and Eileen is a mover and shaker in the library community" said Bill Schickling, president and CEO of Polaris Library Systems. "The Library will be a real asset to the Polaris family and we are extremely excited by this partnership."
