Automatically maintain your authority records.
With Authorities Weekly, you automatically receive updates to your authority records in ready-to-import MARC format. Exclusively for Polaris customers, this service compares your database's authority records with a weekly authority update from the Library of Congress. If there are updates to your records, you receive an email with the location of the authority file and the number of records the file contains.
When you import the file, the authority records are updated automatically and the bibliographic records are re-linked as necessary. Benefits include:
- Peace of mind - know that changes the Library of Congress may make to authority records you use in your database will be reflected automatically.
- Quality - the records Polaris uses for the automated authority update service are the national authority files produced and updated weekly by the Library of Congress.
- Timeliness - Polaris runs the update service weekly upon loading the Library of Congress updates. Your library is always within a week of the national standard, the Library of Congress.
