  • Quickly find the correct publication pattern - Templates are named for the title of the serial publication, so there is no need to search for the correct publication pattern - just search for the title and start predicting the issues.
  • Predict issues with a high rate of accuracy and minimal setup - Patterns include omitted or combined issues and calendar changes. What's more, the enumeration and chronology are set up with the caption format that appears on the serial publication's title page.
  • Preview and modify pattern templates - Preview the issues you create using the publication pattern templates to make certain the issues are correct and the enumeration and chronology appear as expected. When necessary, you can modify a Polaris publication pattern template and save it with a different name.
  • Print accurate serials labels - When you print labels for your serial issues at check-in, the labels will contain the correct format for the enumeration and chronology.
  • Select the templates as part of your regular workflow - Once the templates are installed, they will be available to select whenever you are creating or modifying your serial holdings records.

Polaris's serials prediction patterns are designed to save valuable staff time by automating and streamlining serials setup and workflow. Templates are verified against publisher records, The Library of Congress, OCLC WorldCat, and several large research-oriented public libraries, providing a high level of data accuracy. The templates are available for Polaris ILS version 3.2 and higher.
